Testimonials

"Thanks so much for the photo's and video clip of Flintoff... now that is our Flintoff looking really happy.  It doesn't surprise me that he demands treats first, he is a scrounger!  I believe that when you say it was hard to keep him still as he has a right wiggle on him.  Taking in a couple of toys for him would be great, thanks ever so much!

.............you're a godsend, wouldn't have got through it without your lovely photo's of my happy Flintoff."  Dawn, Flintoff's owner

Tip of the Day

Why don't you hose your dog down with cold water (from the water tank) on hot days.

Exporting Your Pet to Australia PDF Print E-mail

The process of exporting a pet into Australia is perhaps a little daunting initially but certainly no more that you will have already been through for yourselves in terms of paperwork, medicals, police checks ….. need I go on? I went through the process with my dog, Baggy, and came out smiling the other side so if I can do it, then so can you!

The very first thing to do is look at the AQIS website (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service). It is extremely helpful as well as easy and simple to follow: (http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs). It really does take you through the process step by step tailored by country. AQIS are also the ones to give you information on the food used in quarantine, type of bedding and what is allowed in terms of toys.

Most pet exporters have been through this process many many times and are more than happy to give you as much help and information on anything specifically relevant to your country of departure. Some are listed on our Partners Page. They often offer a service that includes all the paperwork for you too.

I was also very lucky in that my local vet was Defra approved (the English equivalent of AQIS) and was patient and knowledgeable enough to answer my lengthy questions.

The key for me was really to keep on asking questions until I was sure I had what I needed. It is nobody elses pet and no-one cares as much as you do so ask until you are happy.

Once you are on the path to exporting your dog or cat to Australia, if you will not able to visit your pet whilst in quarantine due to distance or time, do contact Dog Walks. We can help by arranging to exercise and visit your pet during their stay in quarantine. Make sure to book any favourite treats you’d like us to give your pet too which you can do at our Dog Walking Packages page. Don't forget to look at our Gallery to see frequent photos posted there of your dog in your absence.

Lastly, if you are not just next door, think about how you are going to transport your pet from the quarantine station to your home at the end of the quarantine period.

Remember, AQIS is the only place that has all the information you need in terms of bringing your dogs and cats into Australia on the following pages  (http://www.daffa.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs).

With best wishes to you and your dogs for a smooth and happy move to Australia.

Good Evening,

Well it feels that summer has finally come to Australia! Well in Queensland anyway we had 29 degrees today and I was forced to change my UGG boots! How does it go from needing boots and jumpers to baking overnight? And Spring only officially started yesterday! Strange but fantastic. Bring back the warmth I say! Mind you, it is sunny all year round so we can't complain, can we :). What it does mean though is that we need to start thinking about making our pups more comfortable in the heat. The season of short haircuts and frequent hosedowns is not far away.

And as always, lots more new arrivals so don't forget to look at our gorgeous furry friends' faces on the gallery.

Take care for now,

Karen
